White lines can appear on a copy either in a horizontal or vertical direction. How the white line appears on the copy will determine the cause and solution.Horizontal white lines usually indicate the ink cartridge is running out of ink or has some clogged ink nozzles.

 1.      Some of the ink cartridge nozzles may be clogged with dry ink. Use the ink cartridge cleaning service to try to clear them.

  • Pess Setup or Menu repeatedly until Maintenance appears in the display, and then press Enter
  • Clean Cartridges should appear in the display. Press Enter
  • At the end of the ink cartridge cleaning cycle, a page will print. Examine the page to determine if the problem is corrected. If the print fades out or if some colors are missing or incorrect, the ink cartridge is low on ink and should be replaced.

 2.      Clean the cartridge face and electrical contacts at the back of the print carriage as follows:

  • Open the printer and take all of the ink cartridges out.
  • Locate your inkjet ports- where your ink cartridges were. The ink ports are between the printer body and the ink cartridge
  • With a pair of protective gloves, wipe the area of the inkjet ports on the body of the printer with a DAMP piece of soaked cloth (after soaking it in hot water – the warm water cloth will help dissolve the dried up ink in the ink ports)
  • Wipe till all the ink is gone
  • Leave the ink ports to dry – one way to quicken the process is to use a hair dryer set to low.
  • Once you are sure the ink ports are dry reinstall the ink cartridge and close the printer
  • Plug the printer back into power.
  • Close the unit, and plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and plug the power cord into the back of the unit.
  • Print a self-test page to check the results.
  • To print a self-test page, press the Setup or Menu button until Print Report appears in the display then press Enter . Press the Setup or Menu button until Self-Test appears in the display, and then press Enter .
  • If the problem is not corrected by cleaning the ink cartridges, replace the ink cartridges.
